Who is Shown Media, and what this role is about
Every launch video that breaks the internet started as a script. The right words, in the right order, at the right pace, that’s the difference between a video that holds for 90 seconds and one that loses people at second 12.
Only apply if this describes you:
You’ve rewritten the same line 15 times because none of them were exactly right.
You write fast — and you obsess over every word anyway.
Feedback isn’t personal. Another revision pass is just another chance to make it better.
You understand what makes a viewer stay — not theoretically, in practice.
You’ve written YouTube scripts or DTC direct-response copy and understand how those formats work mechanically.
You know social media deeply — not just what performs, but why.
About Shown Media
Emmy winners, ex-Mr. Beast filmmakers, and elite creative strategists on Madison Avenue. Every week we engineer viral launches for the founders history will remember — tens of millions of views per campaign. The script is where every one of those launches begins.
The Role
You’ll write the scripts behind our launch videos — the 90-second masterpieces we build for founders backed by Sequoia, A16Z, and Khosla. Each script goes through multiple revision passes before a single frame is shot. You don’t hand off a draft and move on. You’re in it until every line is right.
What You’ll Own
Write video scripts for viral launch campaigns: research the product, understand the founder, isolate the aha moment, and turn it into a narrative that holds for 90 seconds.
Revise. Revise again. Then revise once more. This role is 70% revision — that’s not a warning, that’s the standard.
Collaborate with Creative Directors and the production team to make sure every script translates visually.
Turn a brief into a strong first draft fast, then obsess over the refinement until it’s right.
Go deep on each client’s product, positioning, and audience — the script has to feel specific, not generic.
What We’re Looking For
Proven experience writing video scripts — YouTube, DTC direct response, or similar long-form formats strongly preferred.
You write fast and obsess over every line — both are true at the same time.
You understand retention: hooks, pacing, why people stay or leave.
A revision-heavy process doesn’t frustrate you — you see feedback as a tool, not a judgment.
Deep understanding of social media, especially X and LinkedIn.
Strong research skills — you can learn a product deeply in 48 hours and write like you’ve known it for years.
